I WILL CATCH A GRENADE FOR YOU....

I don’t care about his rumoured sexual orientation, but I like Bruno Mars a lot, I mean his songs. One of my best songs of 2010/2011 is “Grenade” by this dude. Do I need to give u the lyrics? Ok, just a little bit…

“I'd catch a grenade for you (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Throw my hand on a blade for you (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I'd jump in front of a train for you (yeah, yeah, yeah)
You know I'd do anything for you (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I would go through all this pain
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes, I would die for you, baby………”

Lovely song! But hey, how many of us can actually catch a bullet for the one we love? Don’t answer, its rhetorical, and besides, I can guess what your answer is and what you will eventually do when the time comes to take that bullet, but God forbid.

Did you hear about the Colorado shooting last week? A gunman wearing a gas mask and sheathed head-to-toe in body armor opened fire in a theater packed for a midnight showing of a just-released Batman movie, killing at least 12 people and wounding 58 others.

I guess that’s no longer news, rather, what intrigued me is the revelation some days ago that 3 guys shielded their girlfriends from bullets, took a few and died. That’s right! Jon Blunk, Matt McQuinn and Alex Teves stood between the direction of the bullets and their girlfriends.

Let’s leave America and come back home to Naija. I’m just wondering, what will the average naija guy do, given the same circumstances as the Colorado shooting? Trust me, many will forget they have a date for the evening and take the next available exit, while a handful will even use their babe as bullet shield. Sounds weird and ridiculous, but it’s very true.

Hey, it’s not like I’m innocent myself, this should just be a food for thought for all of us. When you tell a girl or a guy “I love you”, and you believe it’s coming from the bottom of your heart, just make sure you know what you are going into, that if need be, you’d rather take the bullet than he or she.

Taking the bullet will not necessarily mean you have resolved and resigned to die. Could be that, “hey, I have a better chance of surviving than she does, I can as well take the fall”.

Ruminate on this as you go about the rest of this beautiful week! You are the best!
I love you.….*winks*

THE HOUSE HUSBAND

Hello all you wonderful people! whats up? No, wats app? *winks*. I trust you all are cool.... Its cool around here too, just the normal normal, u know what i mean.

How do you like this pic? say the truth....

I know whats going on in your mind right now, trust me. I'm no psychic, but i know the trend.

The ladies will be saying "oh... this is so romantic!". While my naija guys will be like "WHAT THE F**K!"

The truth is, this is an unusual sight, for girls that find it romantic and for naija guys that thinks its crazy. Its not everyday you see a full grown man tying a baby to his back and doing laundry at the same time.

My mind did a little wondering as to were the mother of the baby might be at this particular time. You might have better ideas than i do, but one possibility is that she has this job at a new generation bank, and works 7 and half days a week  6 days a week.

Another possibility is that she recently got tired of staying behind the shadows and wants to pursue a career in politics, and consequently went for one of their "political meetings".

As a person, I will always vote for women coming out of their kitchen to help contribute to society. The few that have done that in Nigeria so far did wonderful jobs, totally ignoring the likes of one time speaker of the house and her like. However, there are things that this career woman must not overlook, in the interest of our society.

One of such things is the development of the children. I'm sure there are greats guys out there that are making and will go ahead to make the best dads ever, but truth be told, many men suck at taking care of kids. I dont want to go into what happens and the psychological imbalance that might be the product of having a child raised without the mothers love, care and attention.

I once read a report that believes that one of the causes of homosexuality is having a child grow up without the love and care of either the mother or the father. I dont know if i believe this report or not, and i dont want to find out either. Just saying, you never can tell.

I'm taking so much of our time already, so I'll just wrap up by making my point if you already have not gotten it. As we go about creating HOUSE HUSBANDS and HOUSE WIVES, we should keep an eye to the effect it can have on the family, and ultimately the society. If you go to work before your kids wake up, and return after they've gone to bed, you are totally on your own!

Have a blessed week Y'all....

THE BODY OF A WOMAN

For some time now, I have wanted to share this gist with you wonderful people. I have not until now, because of lack of the appropriate caption. Yeah, just that, can u imagine?

Anyway, I got this title finally from a page I follow on Facebook and before I continue, digest the following excerpts from the page….

"The body of a woman. The most idolized and prostituted thing in our culture. In many of our commercials we are pictured in them with barley enough clothes on to keep a bird alive and that if you buy the product advertised you will draw many women to you. There was a time when the body of a woman was a sacred thing, she was only unveiled before the eyes of her husband, only He could drink in her beauty. Now women are sold at a cheap price not just on tv or the Internet but we have given our bodies away to every eye that is laid on us. We dress to attract but we have dressed the wrong way! Most men respect a woman who is covered up and is dressed attractively and that awakens him to protect her and befriend her. But if a woman has exposed all her goods and leaves nothing for the imagination a man senses her desire for attention and she may not know it but she has appealed to him on a sexual level. "

I was “privileged” to be posted to Kano State for my NYSC. While in that “wonderful and exceptionally peaceful” land I saw and learnt a few things. The manner of dressing for women in the north is not news to many of us, but if it is to you, see these pictures….

Those right there are Muslim women in their hijab scarf and hijab compliant cloths. I may not have confessed this before, but I found those women to be very beautiful! Yeah, you read correctly, very beautiful. How then, you may ask, did I find them to be beautiful whereas their faces are barely seen, obscure and hooded? I will attempt an answer further down.
If you have stayed in the largely Christian south and east Nigeria, you can do the comparison yourself. I don’t want to dwell on this one, for obvious reasons. But I must state that you do not become beautiful by bringing “everything” out in the open! Why don’t we leave some things to the imagination? I think it’s more exciting that way.

Naturally, the human mind has a default setting of ‘Reverence’ and ‘Awe’ for the unknown. When something belongs to the “unknown zone” it tends to arouse more interest, command more respect, and enjoy more admiration, amazement, wonderment and yearning. That’s one vision many of us are yet to catch.

Now, I’m ready to reveal why I felt the hijab-tying women I saw in the north were beautiful. Most of the time, I barely saw their faces, and whatever I saw, I saw from a considerable distance….
Hey! Before I get crucified, I am not saying you ladies should go and wear hijab o! In fact, if you do, my starship will spread its wings and fly away. My point is: we should learn to leave some things to the imagination. I’m sure God gave us that ability for a reason. What we see daily we cannot begin to talk about right now, and what makes it a difficult situation is that most times, you dont have a choice in the matter, unless you will "monk-up" and stay in the monastry. I've never been to one but i think its safer. I trust naija guys shaa, and a very good friend of mine will always retort, “Looking is free”.
You all have a blessed week!!!
